Had somebody turned the lights on? It was like a million red wings fluttering in front of her eyelids. A million annoying wings just waiting to be torn to pieces. Tamika groaned and grabbed the covers then pulled them up over her eyes. Just a few more hours; that was all she wanted. Only a few hours of blissful sleep and the imagination running to its hearts content, but she wasn't going to get a few more hours and she knew it.
Tamika huffed and pulled the covers down then rolled over with her eyes closed. There was a pause and then no feeling of surface beneath her. A crash followed with a loud yelp and then a pissed groan. Tamika disentangled her body from the mass of blanket and glanced at the clock.
"8:45?! Oh shit!" Tamika jumped to her feet and ran to the bathroom knocking into the chair on her way. She was supposed to meet with a client at 9:30 about setting up a means of payment for her serves as a bodyguard of sorts. That was the reason she was in London anyways. Tamika had flown in only 5 hours before and had headed for the nearest hotel for some fast shut eye before the day began.
She ran a hairbrush through the tangle of hair on her head then slipped it into a pony tail, her hands grabbed the nearest piece of clothing they could which consisted of a pair of worn out jeans and a red tank-top. She changed quickly and while she was putting on a pair of socks her phone rang.
"What?" The call display had said it was Ravinger her guardian.
"Morning there Mika, You're client just called to cancel on you and wants a return on the security deposit." Ravinger sounded as tired as Tamika felt.
"Say what?! Oh come on. I just flew to London and they cancel? What a load of bullshit."
"So take the day off, Boss, and I'll arrange a ticket home in a few days." There was the tell tale beep of the line being disconnected.
Tamika put her phone in her pocket and grabbed her backpack; stuffing in some folders and a laptop. "I might as well get some food and do a little paperwork..." She mumbled and opened the door to her room. On the floor was an envelope with her name on it. Tamika picked it up without a second glance and walked to the front lobby.

Warm sunlight poured down on the Summers household as Temperance wiped sticky sweat off her cheeks. It was a wonderful spring morning, birds were singing and there wasn’t a speck of a cloud in the sky. What could possibly be wrong? Temperance sighed and stared at the bucket of dirty water in front of her. She had waked up to this glorious morning with a new day ahead of her until she realized she had an enormous list of chores to finish and job appointments to keep. This is why she hates being poor, the house she lives in looks like it’s going to fall over any minute. The garden was filled with dull brown soil and cherry trees that will never blossom again. Sadness filled Temperance’s heart as she looked around her surroundings.
“Milady, are you dreaming again?” Serian’s voice pierced into Temperance thoughts.
Flustered, she replied, “No, of course not, haha.”
Temperance quickly dipped the brown cloth into the dirty water and continued wiping the porch of the mansion. She kept her head down, until she felt that Serian wasn’t staring at her anymore. She looked up and smiled as Serian placed the ladder against the wall. Poor Serian he had to do all the repairs on the old mansion, everyday there is always something that needs to be fixed. Just as Serian disappear up onto the roof, Temperance got up to get the mail for the day.
“Junk, junk, bills, bills, bills….” Temperance's voice trailed off, dropping all the envelopes on the kitchen counter. She covered her face with her hands and took a deep breath. “It’s going to be okay…”
In the corner of her eye she saw a bright pink envelope with her name on it. Temperance quickly picked up the package and ripped it open. She read it once, and then twice and finally it sinks in. She won the essay contest she signed up six months ago and the prize was an all-expense paid trip to London. Her ticket was included and an address of the hotel she was going to stay in. A smile popped on her face as she ran to tell her parents.
Leo Summers was out at work for the day but when Scarlett heard the news she rushed to quickly packed Temperance 's luggage and shoved her out the door. “Have fun, sweetheart! And remember not to trust any strangers,” Scarlett said with extreme enthusiasm.
“But mom…. I don’t need to leave right now. I still need to tell father and Serian,” Temperance said as her mom pushed her through the front door.
“No it’s okay; I’ll make sure they know. Have a safe trip,” Scarlett smiled and shut the door. Behind the door she laughed to herself, “My daughter is all grown up.”
Temperance blinked a couple times and sighed. This was her typical mom all excited, energetic and never thinks twice about her actions. Before she knew it she made her way towards the airport and onto the plane for London.

Through the doors and out onto the street; Tamika managed to hail a cab to take her to the nearest outdoor Internet cafe. She paid her travel fee and then found herself a seat in the corner of the lot. A waitress greeter her with a menu and asked the usual questions.
"Good morning Ma'am, today's breakfast special is banana split waffles with fresh hash browns. Would you like to start off with something to drink?"
Tamika rolled her shoulders and sat her bag beside her before looking up at the waitress. She was cheery for an early morning. Tamika was sure that this lady had more then 5 hours of sleep and didn't travel over 15000Kms for a job and to have it canceled. She was starting to wonder if Ravinger had set her up to get her away from the office for a few days.
"Coffee, black and strong if you will... maybe a coke too."
"Alright, I'll be back in a minuet then!" The waitress turned around and headed into the cafe leaving Tamika alone for the moment.
With a grunt Tamika pulled out her laptop and the folders she'd brought. She had to record the stocks from the past two months. All the causalities and deaths had to be recorded as will as the new employees hired. Tamika turned on her laptop and set to work filling in the information. There had been 3 deaths and only 1 new employee but the amount spent from the company's budget was extremely high. She added a bunch of numbers and then saved the file.
The waitress returned with the two drinks and Tamika ordered the special only to get rid of the bubbly waitress for a little longer. It looked like it was going to be a long morning.

Temperance slid down the wall and place her head between her knees at the London airport. It was her first time on an airplane and it was not a pleasant experience. A chill shot up her spine as she remember her unpleasant flight. The weather had been amazing and the captain was an excellent pilot, Temperance just couldn't figure out why she felt so scared on that place and held on the edge of her seat until blood stopped circulating to her fingers. She knew one thing for sure, she won't ever step a foot in that piece of junk.
When the fear passed she got up and looked for her luggage. Finally, when everything was settle she stepped out into the London sun. Boy, it felt good to be back on solid ground. Dragging her luagged along she found her way out of the gigantic airport. As she pass by a clothing store she stopped suddenly and looked down at her clothing. Temperance stared at herself, at her torn jeans, filthy runners and stained white t-shirt. Groaning she slouch her shoulders in defeat. The clothes was one thing but with all the dust on her face and leaves in her hair she looked like a beggar. So this is why everyone is looking at me, like I am crazy, she thought.
"Ah whatever, I am in London and that's all it matters," she told herself, "I am finally going to get rich!"
With a confidant smile on her face she decided to check into the hotel until her stomach told her otherwise. Shrugging she walked up to the bus stop to catch the bus because she knows that her money won't last if she takes the cab. After three stop she got off to what looks like an Internet cafe. She grabbed a chair and dropped down in fatigue. On the bus it was so crowded people pushed and shoved her around like a toy, Temperance being polite didn't say anything instead she apologized at times.
"Welcome," a cheerful waitress voice rang out taking Temperance back to Earth. She looked up and saw a redhead waitress smiling at her but her eyes were narrowing at her clothes and face.
Temperance rubbed her arms and scratched her head, "Oh hi." she must be wondering if I have any money on me right now. This is so embarrassing, why didn't I change before coming here. As shye mentally lectured herself the waitress continued her job, "Here's your menu. Would you like anything to drink?"
"Apple juice would be nice," Temperance replied. The waitress forced a smile and walked away. That's when Temperance saw that all the people at the cafe were staring at her. Forcing a smile she grabbed the menu and held it in front of her face. Heat climbed up to her face as she peeked on the side of the menu, just as she thought, everyone kept staring at her. Eyes judging and looks told her that they disapprove of her. Sighing she slumped down on the table, covering her head with the menu.

He'd needed a change of scenery. It seemed like the California air and the atmosphere of his birthplace was finally messing with him. No matter how hard her tried the words wouldn't come and, even worse, the dreams seemed even more vivid than they usually did. With some regret Byrne took a few weeks off and, with some of his extra money, bought a plane ticket to London from some travel brochure he got in the mail. For kicks and giggles, and hopefully a new novel.
Feles went to a neighbor; his boss gave him a pat on the back and told him not to let those British people intimidate him; his mom hugged him and cried and said how he was growing up. Like she didn't realize this before, but she was his mom and was thus allowed to make observations like that. If he thought the ride from his home to his mom and then to the airport was long, well, he didn't think that after the plane ride. By the end, Byrne was sure that the person riding next to him was almost as nervous and jumpy and stir-crazy as he.
In other words, he couldn't get off it soon enough. He was never ever going to write about a plane or include planes or even think of how to describe a plane. The airport, with its clean walls and multiple restaurants and tourist shops was rather pleasant, even if it was way too large for his liking. And the flight was long enough and his inability to sleep only caused him to find his baggage as soon as possible and find the nearest hotel. Once found, he asked where the nearest coffee shop was.
It was literally across the street. Thanking the woman, he tugged his coat around him before stepping out, for once glad that he enjoyed wearing layers and jackets and scarves. The London weather was cold and he wasn't exactly used to it. He shifted his coat closer to him as he crossed the street, again not used to the fact that everyone drives on the opposite side of the road, and makes it to the shop in one piece. Surprisingly.
With a large tug he opened the door and whipped himself in as quickly as possible, glad to be out of the chill. Never again was he traveling to a cold place in March. Never. Again. Ever.
And of course the place was packed. Sighing, he weaved in between tables -- accidentally bumping into a woman who had her face buried in the menu, to whom he immediately apologized -- and plopped down at the only open table, glad that one had been open. A waitress was over in a second from, he noticed, the girl who he'd bumped into's table.
The waitress looked irritated and he waved away the menu she was about to put on the table. "Just some coffee," he supplied, a small smile fidgeting at the corner of his lips. He was unsure whether she would invite conversation or not. Surely not, with the puzzled look she was sending him. Probably surprised to find an American in a place that, it appeared, only locals knew the location of.
She left and Byrne took out his phone, the only place other than a computer where he would trust his works. The iPhone had been expensive, but it was worth it. Not only did he have a copy of the complete manuscript on it, but with a clever little app he also had a book version of it. Honestly, what author didn't like reading his own books in his free time? He didn't know whether to write or to read, so he settled on checking his email for any word from his publisher and mother.
And was really wanting his coffee.

She closed her laptop with a disgruntled sigh, someone was going to have some explaining to do about the extra costs being charged to the company. Maybe Ravinger was redecorating again; the cheap man never did like using his own money for such a small task. Heads would roll, literally and figuratively for some people. Tamika rolled her shoulders again and cracked open her coke. The fizzy liquid rolled down her throat nicely until she inhaled and choked up a few bubbles of air. She set the drink down with a frown, now even the food was trying to cause her problems.
Tamika looked up from her train of thought and noticed how busy the place had become. People were packed in everywhere with happy gossip and sticky fingers. It was always to noise in big cities, she hated it. People who never stopped to enjoy the moment, feel the wind on their face or sat down to just think and enjoy the day. The beast inside of Tamika stirred at the thought of a nice breeze in the early morning tickling her feathers.
Her train of thought was interrupted by a rugged looking country girl with... was there actually leaves in that girls hair? What had she done? Run a marathon while jumping fences and escaping the police? Tamika's eyes lit up with a litter humour in them. At least she got to see a clown today, that was always nice.
Her eyes drifted around the room carefully, there were a few new faces from when she had entered the place. Her mind was already busy committing each one of them to memory. A broken nose here, a tattoo there and what looked like an American reading an iPhone in the corner. It was turning out to be an interesting day. The bubbly waitress returned with Tamika's breakfast which stole all of her attention away from the room. Hot waffles with ice cream and chocolate, what could be better then that? She almost literally dove into her food; the fork couldn't pick up the waffles fast enough for the liking of Tamika's mouth.

"Why does this always have to happen to me?" Temperance cried softly to herself as she wiped the dust and dirt off her cheeks. As she wiped the dirt off she glanced up to look at the American man who had just bumped her, he was looking at a bulky looking thing in his hand and touching it once a while. What was it? The again, this was Temperance first trip out to see the world, she wasn't surprised that there were things she had never seen in her life.
She thanked the waitress, who came back with her drink and ordered a chess burger. Dying of thirst she quickly drowned the apple juice. She wiped her mouth and looked into deep green eyes of a women with some sort of black blob on her eyes, that looked like a bird. She saw her eyes lit up with humour and suddenly Temperance was conscious of how she looked again. Forcing a smile she looked away and stared at the wall while her hands played with her luggage tags near her thighs.
Maybe I should go and clean up a bit in the bathroom, she thought to herself. She got up so quickly she ran into a waitress who was carrying a tray of food for the table behind her. Temperance never thought that chaos could happen so fast. She fell hard on her bottom as food flew around everywhere. Something cold hit her right on top of her head while she felt something squishy moved on the bottom of her hands. Suddenly glass crashed behind her as she realized that it was a glass carrying coca cola that had drenched her.
Temperance kept her head down as her eyes scanned her surroundings. There was a hamburger near her feet and some chicken fingers that sat on her lap. Slowing, taking as much time as possible she looked up at the waitress who had hands on her hips and a scary expression on her face. Temperance quickly got up as the waitress opened her mouth.
"I am so sorry, I didn't mean it," Temperance said in a shaky voice, holding her hands in front of her, her head bobbing up and down as she bowed to the waitress. Temperance wasn't a clumsy person, today was just not working for her, it seemed to be a bad omen that something terrible was going to happen to her. Her eyes focused on the brown floor as she continued to apologized to the waitress, hoping there was some way she can mend the problem.

From his limited experience in a coffee ship half the size of the one he was currently sitting in, they were quiet. Everyone brought a book or something to do and did that while sipping on some coffee. Sometimes there was a couple but they had the decency to keep their voices low. The fact that this place was crowded probably made it seem louder than it actually was, but it was almost hard to concentrate on his publisher's email, which had five too many long words that weren't needed in it. Typical for a publisher to try to make their authors use a dictionary to understand what they're trying to say.
Bryne had almost gotten through the entire thing -- right now they were asking when they could expect a rough draft of something, a question he had no idea how he was going to answer -- when there was a crash and a bang and the uniquely precious sound of glass breaking. He looked up too late; not only had he missed the crash, but by the time he was able to tear himself away from the email the girl had already stood up and was apologizing.
Well, at least he didn't see any coffee stains anywhere. That was a relief. Especially when, a second or two later, another waitress came and put a cup in front of him. He thanked her, a large grin plastered on his face that was actually genuine.
He almost felt bad for the girl. It was obvious she wasn't used to city life at all and was probably completely and totally confused about everything that was happening. Still, his amusement at the situation over weighed his concern. What could they do, kick her out? She was a, hopefully, paying customer.
With a sigh he stood, tucking his phone in his pocket and making his way over to the accident. Why did he have to be a nice person? Why? He stopped by the girl, placing a hesitant hand on her back and turning her towards the sign that pointed where the restroom was. "You clean up," he stated, almost wincing when he remembered that he probably had an American accent of sorts and was likely as out of place here as she was. "And I'll help this lovely waitress pick this up."

Waffles don’t belong in the lungs Tamika realized as she coughed up some brown looking waffle covered in melted ice cream. She hit her chest to help clear her throat as she watched the collision of food and person collide. Chicken fingers and a hamburger sored through the air in a lovely arch before landing on the poor victim. It was quite a site to see first thing in the morning, breakfast and a show! The day was looking up drastically for her. Tamika smothered a laugh as she watched the poor girl apologize to the waitress who looked about as pissed as a hornet after finding a bear paw in her nest.
She contemplated weather to help the poor girl or not and to just finish her food but the girl looked so embarrassed that Tamika couldn’t help but stand up and more towards her. She was quickly beaten by the American man who was pointing the girl toward the restroom. Tamika realized the least she could do was help the girl clean up and maybe find her some a tee-shirt to put on. She turned back to her table and quickly grabbed her things before speedily walking to the girl. Her eyes fixed on the man who was helping her and with a humours smile .
“Do you need any help getting cleaned up? That was quite a show you put on there Miss, I hadn’t expected to see anything that funny all day.” She grinned at the girl with a mocking expression.

London was so busy, not to mention is smelled bad. Yuu Sora had flown to London in search of a girl he was supposed to look after. His mentor was worried about his little girl being all alone in the big wide world and had sent Yuu after her to protect her. Typically Yuu wasn’t the protective type of person but he owed Leo his life and he owed her daughter about the same. Though sadly he kind of stood out in London with his strange style and Asian face; not to mention the makeup he was wearing.
Yuu sighed and walked past a cute shop with bows, ribbons and teddy bears. He stopped and glanced in the window; eyes lighting up with glee. They’re so cute! He dashed into the shop to look around. Cute things had always been an attraction of his. They reminded him of his little sister who would have been 14 if she were alive and also of Leo’s daughter who was always nice to him. Yuu’s eyes found a cute miniature black teddy bear holding a sword and wearing a red ninja headband with a pink rose on one arm. It was so cute! Yuu picked it up and fondled the teddy bear lovingly while receiving looks from the clerk behind the counter. With a cough Yuu straitened and walked over with a hardened look to buy the bear.
He left the shop and continued on his way, where the hell was he supposed to find Temperance in a huge city? Yuu adjusted the headband over his nose and paused to think. If he had just gotten off a plane he would most likely go to find something to eat. So where would she have gone to eat? Yuu didn’t have to look long; while passing a café he heard a crash and the commotion of people as someone had either run into a waitress or the waitress had dropped something. In curiosity Yuu poked his head inside the café only to find the victim was the girl he was looking for. There was Hime-Sama sitting on the floor with chicken fingers in her lap and a broken glass behind her. Yuu’s eyes went wide as he rushed to the scene of the crime.
“Hime-Sama!” He shouted with a heavy Japanese accent and then stopped himself remembering that Temperance wasn’t supposed to know who he was. He had after all been stalking her ever since she got on the plane in Canada. It was too late now; his cover was blown so he might as well go with it. Yuu mentally kicked himself.
Temperance has since stood up and was being helped by too people as Yuu was thinking things through. Had that man just put his hand on his Hime-Sama? He raised an eye and positioned himself within strangling distance of the man while looking at Temperance.

Everything was happening so fast her mind couldn’t keep with the fast pace events happening around her. One moment she was apologizing to the waitress she had just crashed into the next someone placed a hand on her back steering her in the direction where the restrooms were located. Red faced she looked up at the man with a kind face offering to help the waitress clean up. It was the same man who bumped into her earlier. As she mentally scolded herself, her eyes drifted around the room. Surly enough it seemed that time had stopped. Everyone in that busy café was staring after, some angry faces and some who seemed to feel sorry for her.
Temperance bowed to the audience in the café and took a step towards the bathroom when a woman stepped in front of her. She had a mean expression on her face so Temperance took a step back towards the American man. The women had blond hair like her except there was a pink streak on her bangs; the raven tattoo added a finishing touched on her tomboyish feature. The first thing that registered in Temperance’s mind was she was in deep trouble. These women must be one of those gangsters her dad had been telling her about. She always thought that he was teasing her, but now she saw it with her own eyes.
Suddenly there was a shout at the entrance of the café. She looked up and saw an Asian man with a, was that a teddy bear in his hand? He was dressed in black and white, and looked like a son of an Asian mafia boss. Compared to the woman who had just confronted her, this Asian man was defiantly scarier. The Asian man with a bandana on his nose seemed to be concerned for some reason. The black teddy bear he was carrying just seemed so out of place with the rest of his scary appearance. Temperance glanced around her but his shout seemed to be directed towards her so she pointed a finger at her nose and mouthed “me.”
Frightened, Temperance moved a few more steps back towards the American man until her back hit his chest. Jumping up she apologized to him and dropped to her knees and began to pick up pieces of food and broken glass. Blood rushed up to her face as her body temperature increased drastically. She felt so little as the angry waitress, concerned American person, gangster woman and gothic guy stared down at her. She kept her head low and focused on her task in front of her: cleaning the mess she caused.

With all these strange people in London, Byrne thought it was perfectly reasonable that she'd want to clean up her mess rather than mess with them. Hey, in her position, he'd have already run away with his (figurative) tail between his legs. At least she was brave enough to stay and try to offer to help, which he admired. A little bit.
Even as she twitched and moved and cowered he wasn't expecting her to bump into him, which startled him for a moment. Then again, it was his fault for standing so close to her. After catching his balance he took a slight step back, looking down as she began picking food up off the ground.
He was pretty sure there was a broom for that.
A moment passed before he moved around her and lowered himself in front of her. Then, with gentle hands, tried to collect hers and make them drop their contents. "I am sure the wait staff would appreciate it if you let them do their job and clean this up. And I'm sure you'd appreciate clothing that wasn't soaked in coke," he said, a little forcefully but still kind, a reassuring smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. This next part could possibly be the biggest lie he's ever told. "I'm sure this kind young lady isn't as scary as she might look. Why don't you go with her and get cleaned up and I'll help out here." [/b]

That was a little mean; did Tamika have food on her face or something? She sighed and looked at the girl. “Really now, when someone offers to help it’s polite to accept even if they do…” She thought about her appearance for a minute, jeans and a tank top… what was so scary about that? The girl’s reaction was a little over the top and judgemental; but the man who came running in shouting strange things was even stranger. “Well, whatever but this place has gotten awkward with all the stares I think it would be wise to do what the pretty man is saying.” Tamika placed her hands on the girl’s arms and attempted to put her on her feet. “Drop the glass and let’s go get you cleaned up. After all I am a…kind young lady [who] isn't as scary as might look” She said with a smile, quoting the man.
Her attention turned briefly to the Asian man, “Why don’t you go find her a shirt or something? Before you cause a scene and make people think you’re trying to kidnap her. It’s a little unnerving.”
